Mayobridge club notes - 24 January 2017

Mayobridge U-21 team suffered a seven point defeat at the hands of Crossmaglen in the Ulster Club Championship at Kickhams Creggan GAC, Randalstown on Saturday last with the final scoreline reading 2-14 to 0-13. After taking an early lead the ‘Bridge were soon pegged back as the Armagh side, inspired by a powerful display by senior county panellist Oisin O’Neill, took control and goals from O’Neill and Ryan McKeever saw them build up a commanding lead at the break, 2-10 to 0-6. The ‘Bridge cause was not helped when they were reduced to fourteen men just before half-time. Even with a man down the Sky Blues put in a great effort in the second half and were very unlucky on a couple of occasions with goal opportunities. However they had left themselves too much to do after the first half display and despite their best efforts had to concede defeat.

While the team will be disappointed to have lost, the club are very proud of their performances all season and would like to thank them each of them and the team management of Brendan Grant, Caolan Gallagher, Ciaran Magennis and James Marron for their dedication and hard work in winning the Down championship.
