Coiste Chontae an Dúin and the family that is Down GAA have been saddened in recent days to learn of the deaths of two people who played key roles in their Club at different times in the recent past.
Eamonn Hogan of RGU was formerly the Secretary of the Club and was a man for whom no task was too much, Eamonn always gave his best and took great pride in the progress the Club were making on and off the Field. We think too at this time of his father Tom and mother Bridget, Tom was also an active officer in the Downpatrick Club, holding the office of Club President in recent times and also is a valued member of our gate team at County level.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Eamonn's wife Corrina and their family Brittany, Jake, Brandon and Alex, To Tom and Bridget, his father and mother and to the Gaels of RGU Downpatrick on the loss of a man taken from us too soon.
Hubert Shannon of Cumann Pheadar Naofa was a past Club Chairperson and County Board Rep, he was a proud Antrim man and a man of wise counsel at Club and County Meetings. Hubert made a great contribution to Cumann Pheadar Naofa from selling Lotto to being an active Committee member up until his sad passing. Hubert's legacy lives on today with the involvement of his Children and grandchildren in the Club, as coaches and players and he represented everything that is good about being a GAA Volunteer. We extend our sympathy to his Children Deirdre, Claire, Peter, Chris and Niamh, his sons and daughters in law, and to the Gaels of Warrenpoint who have lost a valued member.
