Coiste Chontae an Dúin and the family that is Down GAA are saddened to learn of the deaths of two men who gave good service to the GAA in their lifetime.
Terry Curran of Downpatrick was a past Club Secretary of RGU Downpatrick and is the grandfather of current Referee Conor Curran, we extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Gina, children Terry, Lindsey, Dara, remembering too the late baby Niamh, and the entire Curran family circle at this sad time, we also offer our condolences to the Gaels of RGU Downpatrick on the loss of a Clubman who made a positive contribution to the growth and development of the Club.
Liam Austin (Snr) of Rostrevor was a man who served Rostrevor Club well over many years having managed the Senior Team to a first County Title in 1976 and also was a key member of Down Senior Football backroom teams during the 70s and 80s, a man always willing to undertake any task that might help the County. Liam was a proud father when his sons Liam and Jarlath went on to win All Ireland Senior Medals in 1991.
We offer our deepest sympathy to his wife Ann, his children Liam, Petrina ,Joanne, Declan, Jarlath, Conleth and remembering too the late Marie, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters. To the Gaels of Rostrevor we also extend our condolences on the passing of a man who made a difference in the lives of many.
Liam’s remains will repose at McAnulty’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 1pm – 3pm and 6pm – 9pm and on Sunday from 1pm – 3pm. Requiem Mass for Liam will take place on Monday at 11am in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Killowen followed by interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Bryansford.
