Down opened up thier 2023 Dr McKenna Cup Campaign with 4 point win over last years winners Monaghan 2-10 to 0-12.
Andrew Gilmore and Odhran Murdock grabbed Down's goals as new manager Conor Laverty got his tenure off to a winning start.
Gilmore scoring his goal in teh 1st half (15mins) while Murdock who was man of the match scored his in the opening minutes of the second half.
Down play Donegal on Sunday 8th Jan in Pairc Esler at 1.30pm in the 2nd round game.
