Aidan Carr has called time on his 11-year career with Down's senior footballers

Thursday 7th December 2017

Aidan Carr has called time on his 11-year career with Down's senior footballers, according to a report in today's Irish News.

The Clonduff man has followed close friend Mark Poland into retirement, leaving Conor Maginn, Kevin McKernan, Benny McArdle, and Darren O'Hagan as the only surviving members left from the Mourne County's 2010 All-Ireland SFC final run.

Carr was first brought into the Down panel by Paddy O'Rourke in 2006 and featured regularly at centre-field in this year's National League campaign.

A hamstring injury saw his appearances limited throughout the championship as Eamonn Burns's side reached their county's first Ulster final in five years.
