Scór Sinsear 2017 gets underway with excellent display of Culture

Our Cultural section, under the leadership of Carmel McGrath have been working hard in preparation for the 2017 Scór season. The club was represented in Ceili Dancing, Set Dancing and Solo Singing on both Friday night and Sunday night. Culture continues to grow from strength to strength in the club and none more so than the dancing section who entered not one but two teams into this year’s competition.

Congratulation to both our mixed and ladies set team, our mixed ceili team and solo singer Oisin McCann who now progress to the South Down Final.

Best wishes to Mayobridge Ballad Group, Glassdrumman Solo Singer Niamh McDowell and Ballyholland Quiz team who all represent Down this coming weekend in the Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final in the Waterfront Belfast.

Full House at Mop-up Registration & Merchandise Evening

There was a great turnout at the final mop up registration evening in the clubrooms on Friday 3 February. Merchandise Officer Roisin O'Hare was there with club merchandise for sale and she was inundated with young blues purchasing gear for the 2017 season.

Please note that anyone wishing to participate in any club activities must be a fully paid up member. Anyone who missed the registration evenings is asked to contact the relevant manager/mentor for a form.

Senior Hurlers all set for new season

The senior hurlers have been taking part in pre-season training with strength and conditioning coach Conan O’Neill. New manager Gerry O’Neill was delighted with the turnout and training continues this Tuesday, 7 February in St Marks at 715pm, all players, new and old are encouraged to attend.

Online Lotto is a big success

There has been a great interest and uptake in our online lotto, club members and supporters at home and abroad can now purchase their club lotto online via www.klub-funder.com. This is a quick and easy way to ensure you are entered in with a chance to win every week. All entries must be completed by 6pm on the day of the draw.

Ross encourages people to get fit in the New Year

Ross McGarry continues his fitness class, ‘RossFit,’ in the clubrooms and is encouraging members to make the big step to get fit this New Year. Ross offers group sessions as well as one on one sessions and is opening up her services to club members this New Year. For more information contact Ross on 07709126745

Coaching is one of the most rewarding things you can get involved in, it gives back to the Club and helps develop the youth of today for a brighter future for the Club and Community.

2017 All County Football League Fixtures released

Cumann Pheadair Naofa head into their third season within Downs top flight, Division one, and there are plenty of great fixtures ahead in the coming season. The Club start their season at home on 7th April 2017 to Bryansford followed by an away trip to newly promoted RGU Downpatrick who gave us a tough battle in the 2016 Down Senior Football Championship in Clonduff.

U8 Football draws big numbers

Core training for U8 footballers begins in St.Marks on Wednesday 22 February with outdoor training continuing on Sunday at 11:15am in Milltown. All interested are encouraged to attend.

Annual Reunion date confirmed

The date for the club Annual Reunion has been confirmed as Saturday 4 March 2017 in The Whistledown Hotel Warrenpoint. This event is one which sees us as a club reflect, celebrate and recognize achievements in the year gone by and look to the future. This year saw our senior footballers keep Division one status with top class performances in a tight and competitive league. As well as this our U21 footballers made the championship final, our young instrumental group were crowned County Champions and made the Ulster Scor na nog semi final. A year gone by with lots of celebrate.

Final count down for Down Clubs Draw Tickets – Support your club

The last few tickets for the Annual Down GAA Clubs Draw 2017 are still available to purchase from Cumann Pheadair Naofa  Draw Co-ordinator Donal McCormack or any member of the Senior Committee. The total prize fund is £110,000, with monthly draws taking place throughout the year . Tickets cost £120 and can be purchased from any committee member up until Wednesday.

Now in its seventh  year, the Down Clubs Draw has proved to be a very worthwhile fundraising initiative for Down  clubs.  This is an opportunity to support Cumann Pheadair Naofa as it endeavors to provide activities, including all five GAA codes, culture, drama , community outreach and health and wellbeing activities  for the whole of the family for the whole of  life.
