Coiste Chontae An Duín and the family that is Down GAA are saddened to learn of the death of one of our former players, John Harte.
John was the Goalkeeper on the Down Minor Team of 1966 who were beaten by Mayo in the All Ireland Final. John went on to represent his County at Junior and Senior Level, in August 1971 he suffered a serious injury whilst playing in the All Ireland Senior Semi Final v Galway, an injury that brought an end to a promising Inter County career.
John retained a great interest in our games and was a regular attender at County and Club fixtures throughout the County and beyond. Wherever Gaelic Games were being played John Harte would be there.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Mary, his daughters Ciara and Samantha, his grandchildren and the entire Harte Family Circle. To the Gaels of Drumaness, we also extend our sympathies at this sad time.
