The Down senior and intermediate football championship enters do or die territory for eight teams this weekend, as eight others battle it out for a place in the quarter-final stage. Down GAA TV will again be on hand to bring you some of the action, with five live games from the senior championship, as well as one from the intermediate grade.

Up first on Thursday night, Longstone and Mayobridge will look to keep their interest in this year’s championship alive as they meet in Round 2B. Both sides had narrow losses in Round 1 to Ballyholland and Burren respectively. The game throws in at 7.30pm and will be the perfect start to a weekend of great football in the county.

Friday night lights sees the meeting of two other teams who lost out in Round 1, as Bryansford and Clonduff meet. The latter having had a tough start to the campaign with a resounding defeat to All-Ireland champions Kilcoo. Bryansford also suffered a comprehensive defeat, Carryduff beating them by nine points. The two sides will see this as a great chance to get their year back on track and book a place in Round 3. This game also throws in at 7.30pm.

Saturday’s action comes from the intermediate championship as Liatroim and Darragh Cross look to bounce back after both suffered three-point defeats in Round 1. A 5pm throw-in time for their meeting.

Again, on Sunday there will be two games to sink your teeth into. At 3pm Bredagh and Castlewellan do battle, aiming to reach Round 3. Then, at 5pm, two teams who have a little more breathing space meet. Burren and RGU Downpatrick had narrow victories in round 1 and therefore their clash on Sunday is for a place in the quarter-final.

The weekend ends with champions Kilcoo trying to book their place in the quarter-final on Monday night. Their opponents Ballyholland had a good victory over Longstone in Round 1 and have nothing to lose on Monday. A win books a place in the quarter-final, while the safety net of Round 3 is available should they succumb to the Magpies. This game is also a 7.30pm throw in.

Like Round 1 all these games are available individually for £6, all six matches can be bought for £21. There is also a Sunday Double header offer available, with both games costing £10. Catch all the action on Down GAA TV
