How it started

The Ballykinlar project grew from a remarkable partnership between Down GAA and the UK Ministry of Defence. In a place shaped by a complex past, it stands as a powerful symbol of progress, trust-building and a shared commitment to a better future.

Overview

Ballykinlar will become a Centre of Participation, Wellbeing and Shared Learning Hub – an inclusive space created to address long-standing gaps in community infrastructure while supporting rural regeneration, health and wellbeing, peacebuilding, skills development and economic opportunity.

The Objective

The objective is to transform the site into a high-quality shared space that connects people on a cross-community and cross-border basis. Through sport, wellbeing, learning, shared history and heritage, Ballykinlar will help create meaningful connections and lasting impact.

Our Partners

This project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
