VETTING / ACCESS NI

In line with Legislation requirements and Association Rules, all persons working with children or young people in a voluntary or paid capacity, must be appropriately vetted and adequately trained prior to commencing their role. Those who are involved in the management of individuals appointed to work with children or young people in your club must also be vetted.

Vetting is carried out by AccessNI through Ulster GAA for all clubs in Down, where they return criminal history information on the applicant. This enables Ulster GAA to make more informed recruitment decisions in relation to the suitability of the applicant for the role. Ulster GAA process applications for vetting checks free of charge, for our Volunteers at a clubs request.

More information on ACCESSNI and the vetting process
For more information on ACCESSNI and the vetting process please visit: ulster.gaa.ie/safeguarding/access-ni/.

For application forms club secretaries can contact the Ulster Council Children’s Officer Bernie Fox on 028 (048) 3752 1900 or by emailing bernie.fox.ulster@gaa.ie

TACKLING BULLYING

The GAA became the country’s first sporting organisation to launch a national anti-bullying campaign with the unveiling of the GAA Tackling Bullying Programme in March 2013.

GAA Tackling Bullying is a new training resource that the GAA developed in response to a growing awareness of the impact of Bullying in society and particularly in sport.

The programme consists of a two-hour training workshop suitable for Coaches, Parents, Players and other Club personnel and also includes a range of publicity materials for Clubs.
