Ardglass won this game by a point but
made hard work of it. The game started
at a fast pace with the home side
hitting a wide from the throw-in while
Ardglass responded by hitting the
crossbar with the next attack.
Ardglass' first score came from a Chris
Deegan Forty-five before Tecconaught
caught the Ardglass back line flat
footed and a fast pace counter attack
resulted in a Teconnaught goal. Ardglass
quickly regained the lead though Chris
Deegan (2) and a 14 yard Chris Taggart
Free. Johnny Sutcliffe kicked a wide
after trying an overhead shot with his
back to the goal. Matt Rooney scored
point after Mark Magee had won a high
ball and found the teenager in space on
the wing. The final five minutes of the
half saw each side kick two wades before
the home side scored from distance to
leave it 4-5 at the break
Ardglass introduced Paul McCargo at half
time to the full forward line to provide
a focal point for the attack.
Teconnaught equalized from the throw-in
while Ardglass responded with a series
of long balls in to McCargo, but the
Ardglass forward line could not convert
their possession into scores and after
ten minutes of dominance had only a
Chris Taggart free to show for it
The next two scores came from both
centre half backs firstly Teconnaught's
and then Ardglass' Eamon McEvoy broke
two tackles before shooting from
distance
To regain the lead. Chris deegan and
Mark Magee both scored from play before
teconnaught scored a forty-five; Matt
Rooney fisted a ball onto the crossbar
and over for a point while Michael Magee
scored following some high fielding.
Teconnaught rallied in the last five
minutes and hit the outside of the
up-right and two wides before scoring
three unanswered points but it wasn’t
enough as Ardglass held out for the two
points.
