Ardglass notes - 19th August 2008


The Annual Golf classic was held last Friday in blustery but dry conditions at Ardglass Golf Club. The Individual competition was won by Lee McEvoy with a fine score of 42 points will Aaron Tumelty was came second with 39 points narrowly defeating Mark Stitt and Richard Magee on a count back.
The Team event was won by Gerry Martin's four ball with a total of 97 points just piping Aaron Beattie, Mark Stitt, Jimmy Dorrian and Richard Magee who posted 95 points. Stephen Fitzsimmons had the longest drive on the 18th while Ciaran Dorrian was nearest to the pin on 12th.
The Committee would like to Thank John Gilchrist for his kind sponsorship of the prizes and to Leonard McShanes and sons Shop fitters for donating the prizes for longest drive and nearest to the Pin. Gavin Milligan of Strangford Fuels kindly donated Home heating Oil Voucher for prize draw and the following businesses for there sponsorship of a hole.

Games round up
The Seniors lost by five points in IFC to Darragh Cross on Thursday night in Ballykinler, in a tight contest the division 2 outfit pulled away in the final five minutes, however before that it was nip and tuck all the way through. Next up is a home league match on Friday versus Bredagh.
The reserves put in there best display of the season on Sunday night at home to Darragh Cross to claim a two point victory, The Full Forward line of Peter and Paul O'Shea along with Johnny O'Connor were in fine form throughout the sixty minutes, while midfield pairing of Mark Smyth and Paddy James were dominant throughout, Barry Kearney revelled in his number 11 role and chipped in with a fine point. Matthew Mc mullan and Mark Armstrong were resolute in defence.
U14 east Down B Championship final versus St Joseph's will be held on sat 30 August time and venue TBC, come and support the boys on their big day.
Night of the races to be held in the Cable Bar Ballyhornan on Sat 30th August, in aid of player welfare. All senior and reserve players to attend.
