*Ballela GAC won the Club
of the year at the Banbridge
District sports awards, which
was held in the Belmont Hotel
on Wednesday night. This is
a terrific achievement for
a Voluntary run club, which
depends on the Community,
Committee, Parents and the
players to do a lot of the
work that is needed to maintain
the club. The club would like
to thank everyone involved
and we hope this success off
the field can inspire the
club to success on the field.
* Ballela would like to take
this opportunity to congratulate
Ciara Mc Cusker, Ciara Magee,
Sinead Mc Evoy and Aisleen
Pyres who have been playing
for the Down Camogie team
recently. This is a terrific
achievement for the girls
and can only help the rest
of the Camogie team as the
girls play at this high level.
* Down juniors took on Cavan
at Pairc Na Naomh on Sunday
in a League fixture. This
fixture took on extra relevance
to Ballela, as there were
5 players involved from the
club. Namely, Gary Mc Mullan,
Paddy Mc Polin, Daniel Mc
Cusker, Danny Doran and Johnny
Mc Cusker who have been part
of the squad this season.
Down beat Cavan by a score
line of 4-15 to 0-09. This
was a good win for Down, which
was played in wintry, conditions
with snow and hailstones falling
during the game.
* The club are trying to enter
Camogie teams at both U-12
and U-14 teams in the leagues
in the forthcoming year. If
anyone is interested please
contact Marty Mc Cusker. (07803189610)

the leagues are all due to
start soon. The club would
like to remind the players
that certain memberships are
outstanding and they have
to be paid ASAP.

morning at Pairc Na Naomh
at 9 am. New players are welcome;

Cusker for more information.

*Club Committee. Meetings
continue on a weekly basis
and the club would like to
emphasise that we are still
3-4 people short on the committee
and any help would be greatly
appreciated.

* Down juniors are playing
Fermanagh on Sunday 16th March
in Ballela at Pairc Na Naomh.
As there are 5 Ballela players
in the squad the club would
anticipate quite a large turnout
of locals at the game. So
why not come along and support
the Ballela players and your
county. Throw in is at 2pm.
