East Down U-16 Football League Section B: Ballykinlar 3-11  Liatroim 2-09

The Kinlar produced a mild shock when they defeated their more illustrious opponents Liatroim in a real cracker at Tadgh Barry Park.

First half goals from Shaun Cunningham and star forward Declan Kavanagh helped the homeside to a one point lead at halftime. The other first half points came from Barry Melville (0-03) and a double from the right boot of Kavanagh.

PD Savage and Declan King were the Fontenoys main threats in the first half but their team could only manage 1-07 despite hogging most of the possession. They squandered a lot of chances and hit nine wides in the period.

Ballykinlar took control in the second half and Kavanagh added another goal and five points to put Liatroim to bed. The Fontenoys did manage to net midway through but Anthony Mageean's security point near the death secured a superb win for the homesters.

This win stretched the Kinlar's unbeaten run to four games. Martin Willoughby, Anthony Robb, Michael Mageean, Lee Grant, Barry Melville, Ryan Cardwell, Shaun Cunningham and Declan Kavanagh were the most prominent throughout.
