Ballykinlar gain second win - 07 June 2003

Bredagh 1-05 v Ballykinlar 1-06, Cherryvale 13th June 7.30 pm

Report by Paul Doran, Bredagh
Ballykinlar gained only their second win of the season with a one point victory over Bredagh on Friday night at Cherryvale. This was a poor encounter with both sides missing simple scores in perfect conditions.

The visitors opened the scoring when full forward Gerard Steele found himself in acres of space and tucked the ball past Danny Tracey. Paul Reynolds (2)and Stephen Smith followed up with minor scores before CJ Carson replied for Bredagh. At this stage Conall Donnelly questioned a decision by referee Mc Elroy and earned a yellow card for goalkeeper Tracey - this was the highlight of the first half with further points from Rory Mc Caughey and Paddy Finnegan leaving a goal between the teams at half-time.On the restart Bredagh were the hungrier but missed the accuracy of Jamie Cleary to translate possession into scores.

The only return for 15 minutes pressure was two points from Pete Carr and Michael Tunney but the visitors took control and recorded points from Reynolds , Smith and Steele. Play became scrappy and Ballykinlar missed a penalty and had a player sent off while Bredagh continued to miss easy scores. In the final few minutes Mc Caughey shot to the net but the expected fightback failed to materialise and the visitors held on by the narrowest of margins.
