new senior football team
manager for the year ahead.
Jackie Fitzsimons, the
former Downpatrick, Queen’s
and Down star takes over
from Tom Potter. With all of
last year’s squad available
hopes are high that they can
regain their Division 1
status. Jackie’s son is a
member of the squad.
Meanwhile, Paul McConville
has been appointed chairman
of the football
sub-committee.

Good start to the IFC by
Carryduff
18/08/2006
In the IFC played last week-end,
Carryduff proved too good for last
season’s JFC winners, Dundrum
winning their clash on a scoreline
of 0-13 to 1-6. ’Man of the match’
for the winners was county
defender Adrian Scullion who
lined-out in the full-forward
position and scored five points.
Division 3 leaders Darragh Cross
were shocked by Tullyish who won
an interesting game on a scoreline
of 1-14 to 0-9. Kilclief and
Drumgath will have to do it all
again after a late point from
Ricky Kerr gave the Strangford
side a share of the spoils.
Saul were defeated by Atticall,
while saval proved too strong for
Ardglass.

sent packing to division 3
26/10/2003
The Carryduff senior teams season
ended in disappointment after
a 5 point defeat to Ballymartin
in Drumaness saw the team relegated
to Division 3. A Niall Hanna goal
midway through the first half
helped the Duff men to a 1-03
to 0-03 half time lead but a blistering
second half opening from Ballymartin
brought them right back into the
game. A Ballymartin goal followed,
and despite having a man sent
off, Ballymartin's shooting from
distance proved to be the key.

Carryduff seniors not only lost
a vital two points against the
visitors Warrenpoint on Friday
night but in a very indisciplined
game they also lost two players
to serious injury. Corner forward
Matt Halligan was taken off in
the first half with a badly injuried
shoulder and corner back Philip
Maguire was taken away by ambulance
after a bad tackle caused serious
knee ligament damage. The match
itself was a poor quality affair
with Warrenpoints ability to take
their scores the only difference
between the team as neither managed
to dominate or play anything resembling
good football. Both teams failed
to finish the match with their
full complement of players with
Adrian Scullion, Gavin Kelly and
manager Alex McGoran sent off
for Carryduff. Warrenpoint had
one man sent off for the horrific
tackle on Philip Maguire. The
final score was Carryduff 0-03
Warrenpoint 0-11.

U12's defeat Kilcoo in top of
the table clash18/05/2003
Carryduff's under 12 'A' team
had a very convincing 18 point
win over Kilcoo on Sunday afternoon
in the East Down u12 league Section
'A'. With both teams unbeaten
to date the spectators as expected
witnessed a very competitive match.
It is not often that a Kilcoo
team at under 12 level are beaten
and even more rare for it to be
so heavily. A super performance
by everyone on the Carryduff team.
Even the keeper got in on the
act. At the start of the second
half with 10 points in it Kilcoo
were awarded a penalty, despite
taking it well the Carryduff keeper
did better making an unbelievable
save.
