The Reserves and Burren played
out a thrilling 1-13 to 1-13 draw in Castlewellan
in the All County Reserve Championship Final and
now must meet again next weekend to produce a
winner.
Burren settled the quickest with Bernard McLoughlin
(2), Gregory Curtis and Mark McClorey all getting
on the score sheet to a solitary Jamie Grant score
for Carryduff.
Ryan Hanna kept Carryduff in it only for Kevin
McGivern, Paul O'Hare and Mark McClorey to stretch
the Burren men's lead even further. Paul Donnelly
and Mickey Hamill both scored great points after
driving runs from midfield to keep Carryduff in
contention.
Bernard McLoughlin got his third score of the
game for Burren before Brendan Curtis, the Burren
full forward, was allowed to run in from the wing
to clip the ball into the back of the net passed
the despairing dive of keeper Ger Connery. The
full back position was causing headaches for the
Carryduff management with no fewer than four different
players given the responsibility.
Conor Gardiner and Peter wallace took the bad
look of the score to leave a five point gap at
half time.

The Carryduff management team of Paul McConville
and Paddy Love must have given one of their by
now legendary half time team talks because Carryduff
emerged like a team possessed in the second half.
> five down to three points upin the first
seven minutes of the half as
> Burren didn't know what hit them. Paul Donnelly
got the Duff men going
> followed by three Ryan O'Neill frees as Carryduff
refused to let
> Burren out of their half.
A first rate ball from Ben Fitzsimmons into Peter
Wallace was flicked onto Conor Gardiner who cooly
sent the ball into the back of the net. Sean Molloy
added Carryduff's sixth score of the half to leave
the Duff men sitting pretty.
Burren weren't beaten yet with Paddy Ryan, Mark
McClorey and two from Kevin McGivern giving the
lead back to the men from Burren.
Ryan Hanna brought Carryduff back to level terms
with Ronan McLaughlin giving Carryduff back the
lead but Burren levelled again through full back
Kevin McKernan.
A tense finished followed with both teams missing
chances to win the game but in the end a draw
was a fair result. Final score in Castlewellan
