John Brennan
Minors narrowly
beaten by Atticall
Glasdrumman
minors were the visitors on
Wednesday night to neighbours
Atticall in what turned out to be a
most entertaining match with a very
high standard of skill and
commitment being displayed by both
teams. Glasdrumman opened the
scoring when Andrew Doran got on the
end of a high dropping to finish it
to the net in the first minute and
this was quickly followed by a point
from Connaire Harrison. Atticall
responded with three points in a
three minute spell before Connaire
Harrison added his second point of
the game. Again two quick points by
Atticall were answered by an Andrew
Doran point in the fifteenth minute.
Again Atticall responded with two
points before Connaire Harrison
added another to his personal tally.
A minute later Atticall pulled
another point back and then disaster
struck in the form of an Atticall
goal. However Glasdrumman hit back
quickly with two points from
Connaire Harrison in a two minute
spell but Atticall finished the half
the stronger with an unanswered goal
and three points to leave the
halftime score Atticall 2-11
Glasdrumman 1-6. Atticall further
extended their lead with a first
minute point which Conairre Harrison
cancelled out a minute later. Again
Atticall responded with a point and
again Connaire Harrison added
another to his personal tally. Five
minutes later Atticall got another
point and this time the response
came in the form of a Glasdrumman
goal by Mark Doran. Glasdrumman
started to believe they could win
the match and substitute Sean
Cunningham forced a point blank save
by the Atticall keeper to prevent a
second goal as he somehow managed to
steer the ball over the bar. Despite
incessant pressure by Glasdrumman
the Atticall defence held out
conceding a single point to Connaire
Harrison as Glasdrumman pushed hard
to save the game leaving the final
score Atticall 2-14 Glasdrumman
2-10.
