GLASDRUMMAN FIGHT HARD FOR WIN:
St. Michael's 2-12 Glasdrumman 3-12
St. Michael's hosted
Glasdrumman on Friday evening with
a view to improving their position
in the league against the leaders.
Glasdrumman got off to a good start
with a point from Raymond Magorrian,
but St. Michael's replied to level
the game after five minutes. Glasdrumman
answered immediately with a goal from
Cormac Murphy and they looked like
taking control of the game. However,
allied with numerous wides from Glasdrumman,
St. Michael's fought back and levelled
the game again through points each
from Neil Sweeney, Bryan Sweeney and
Philip Quinn and even edged into the
lead with a point from Connor Hamill
after eighteen minutes. This appeared
to spark Glasdrumman into life and
a goal from James McDowell and
Connor's first point of the game apeared
to settle them again now they were
three points to the good. Again St.
Michael's came back hard and Bryan
Sweeney gave Ronan McDowell no chance
as he placed the ball into Glasdrumman's
goal to level the game yet again with
five minutes remaining to half time.
Points from Raymond Magorrian and
Connaire Harrison edged Glasdrumman
back into the lead to leave the half
time score St. Michael's 1-5 Glasdrumman
2-4.
There was no hiding St. Michael's
determination as they came out for
the second half as they first levelled
the game with two points and then
Neil Sweeney had the ball in the back
of the Glasdrumman goal with only
five minutes played in the half. Glasdrumman
knew they were going to have to fight
for anything from the game and a point
frpm James McDowell reduced the deficit
a minute later. Neil Sweeney fired
over another point for S. Michael's
to which Glasdrumman replied with
a point from Cormac Murphy only to
see Declan Lavery put over another
point for St. Michael's to increase
their lead again to three points.
Cormac Murphy pointed a free kick
for Glasdrumman before the lively
Raymond Magorrian fired the ball into
St. Michael's net to edge Glasdrumman
ahead by one with fifteen minutes
remaining. St. Michael's replied immediately
again with a point from Philip Quinn
to tie the game again. Another point
from Cormac Murphy followed by a third
point from Connaire Harrison left
a two point cushion in Glasdrumman's
favour with ten minutes remaining.
Two points from Declan Lavery for
St. Michael's split by a pointed free
kick from Glasdrumman's Cormac Murphy
kept things on tenter hooks and only
one point between the teams with five
minutes to go. A fraught last five
minutes ensued but Glasdrumman's nerves
held and aided by points apiece from
Raymond Clarke and Connaire Harrison
without reply the final whistle went
to leave the final score St. Michael's2-12
Glasdrumman 3-12.
