The
Magpies Notes - 3rd May 2004
Unlike last week it was a quiet week
within the club. With the seconds
and thirds not playing it was the
seniors who dominated proceedings.
At underage level it was the U16's
and U14's who were in action with
missed results.
" The seniors unbeaten run to the
start of the new season came to an
end on Friday night at home Longstone.
While they were missing a number of
key players there performance was
still below what they have been producing
in recent times and the away side
duly took advance. While Kilcoo led
by a point at half thanks to a goal
from Dominic McEvoy it was Longstone
who looked the hungrier in the second
half. With ten minutes to go the magpies
still led by a point but a Longstone
goal gave the away side the incentive
to pick the game up and in the end
won on a score line of 1-08 to 1-12.
" The under 16s had an outing to An
Roicht on Thursday last. Up against
a team tipped as potential winners
of the league they strongled to get
to grips with the game. However the
boys showed real character in never
giving up and playing to the final
whistle.
" The under 14s were at home to Burren
on Tuesday night last and had a comfortable
victory. A number of goals from Paul
Devlin helped the lads to victory
as they continued their push for silverware.
" Injuries continue to be a talking
point within the club. The players
and mentors as well as the club would
like to wish Sean Greenan a speedy
recovery after breaking his leg recently.
Sean Devlin junior also picked up
a nasty injury and the club would
also like to wish him a quick return.
A number of players from the senior
panels have also picked up wicked
injuries and we look forward to their
return in the very near future.
