Championship Ballycran 3-5 Liatroim 5-12. Liatroim
retained their title in Portaferry where their
experience and better tactical play won them the
game. After beating Liatroim in the Ulster League
Ballycran would have been expected to put up a
better match than they actually did. From the throw
in Liatroim and in particualar Mairin McAleenan were
not prepared to let that happen. Ballycran chose to
play Catherine McGourty in a sweeper type role which
was not working as they failed to win any puck outs
and as a result their defence were constantly under
pressure. By half-time the game appeared to be over
but on the restart Ballycran worked hard and got
some very good scores but just as they were clawing
their way back into it Liatroim upped the anti and
ran out deserving winners.
