Meath defeat Down U-16 Camogie in All-Ireland Championship

DOWN 2-1 MEATH 4-8

Down U-16 camogs who last year reached the All-Ireland semi-finals were beaten in the 1st round of the new look B Championship. Down probably went into this match as favourites but failed to preform and Meath were worthy winners. Played on an ideal playing surface in a slight wind this game was sown up by half-time by the visitors Down 1-0 Meath 3-4.

All round Meath were faster fitter and more determined. Down did dominate for long periods of the 2nd half but failed to take scoring chances. Both teams now play Westmeath with the top team from this group going into the semi-finals.
