DANIEL ANDRE U10 MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS
29 teams, glorious sunshine, everybody is a winner!
For the second week in a row Clonduff Park hosted almost 400 children plus a host of parents and families this week for the annual Daniel Andre U10 (P5/P6) Memorial Tournament with teams from Down, Armagh, Tyrone, Derry, Monaghan and Meath. It was a great spectacle of colour and skill and at the end of almost 100 games the results were as follows:
CUP FINAL - Bosco beat Ballyholland
SHIELD FINAL - Rossa Magherafelt beat Bredagh
Clonduff Ógs beat Clann Eireann Ógs - the ten Ógs teams took part in a separate competition for the Plate. The top two in each of the other four groups went into the Cup knockout stages; the remaining teams went into the Shield knockouts.
Many thanks to the Andre Family and extended family for supporting the tournament- Dad Luigi after working all day on the Burger Bar presented the Plate and medals to Clonduff Ógs and Clann Eireann Ógs; Mum Donna who had organised her extended family in the kitchen presented the Shield and medals to Rossa and Bredagh; Sister Kara presented the Cup and medals to Bosco and Ballyholland.
Many thanks to all the teams, mentors and families who attended; the Clonduff parents who provided the sandwiches; to our referees without whom the tournament couldn't have taken place; those who acted as runners or umpires, set up pitches, cleaned up afterwards, Geraldine McGaw and Angela Cunningham who helped Luigi with the burgers; Goretta, Noleen and Shane Cairns who manned the very busy shop; Janine who was official photographer for the day, those who helped with refreshments or helped in any way including the organisers and administrators of the day's event.

The Ulster GAA Foundation Coaching Qualification will take place from Monday 17th - Thursday 20th July from 4pm to 7pm at Pairc Esler in Newry (to be confirmed) with a trip to Croke Park on the Friday. It's for young people aged 16 - 24. It's targeted at young people not in work, education or training. It's free and the young people get £3 each day for attending plus any travel they need to get to venue each day. For example bus fares, taxi etc.
YOUNG PEOPLE FROM CLONDUFF WHO ARE INTERESTED SHOULD CONTACT SECRETARY ON 07720062073

U14 Footballers in Attical

After a successful fundraising quiz on Friday night, two teams from the U14 squad participated in the Atticall U14 7’s Blitz on Saturday, and what a day for football it was. The boys had a good run out playing in a number of competitive games giving them the opportunity to gain as much on-field experience as preparations continue for the Féile which takes place in a fortnight.

The boys, as well as their families, extend their gratitude to all those who have helped in any way with their fundraising activities for the occasion.

LADIES FOOTBALL

U14 LGFA
The U14 Clonduff girls had a tough match Thursday evening at home. In the first half the Clonduff girls held their own against Bredagh who were seeing a very different team from the first meeting. In the second half Bredagh showed why they are top of the league. Every time they were near our goals they scored whereas the Clonduff girls although with a lot of the ball just couldn't get the ball over the bar.
The girls never gave up fighting to the end. Well done! The final score didn't reflect the brilliant effort put in. Final score: Clonduff 2-1 Bredagh 7-10
Team: Éveagh Kelly, Aoife McCusker, Codie Morgan, Ellen McKay, Eve Matthews, Ella McCumiskey, Sophie Hannaway, Ellen Shields, Una Fearon, Caoimhe McKeown, Grace Clancy, Orlaith McCusker, Aoife Trainor, Tierna Savage, Rhiannon McKeown, Éabha Ni Dhomhnail, Evie Lyness-Feenan, Eimear Cunningham, Meah Murphy, Erin Morgan, Orlaigh McCann, Caitlin Devlin, Blaithin Shields, Ella-Beth Rooney

U16s away to Dromara on Tuesday evening

UNDERAGE CAMOGIE

U14s - The u14s travelled to Kilcoo last Tuesday evening somewhat depleted due to the early throw in and a number of exams being on, this did not deter the team and they put on a good performance coming away with a victory, final score Kilcoo 1-02 Clonduff 4-03 tried to hold the ball up the Ballyholland defence were physically much stronger in the tackle and Ballyholland led at the break - 4-05 to 0-04!!h Wilson tried to hold the ball up the Ballyholland defence were physically much stronger in the tackle and Ballyholland led at the break - 4-05 to 0-04!!
The home side were deflated at half time and their performance was a poor reflection of their ability. With a few positional changes; moving Orlaith McCusker into the middle, Beth Fitzpatrick into full forward and Roisin McPolin into centre back coupled with a stern talking to by the management, Clonduff Camogs took to the field for the second half determined to regain their pride. The second half proved to be a completely different affair with Clonduff on top and cancelling out Ballyhollland's main threats in the forward line and midfield. The move of Beth Fitzpatrick to full forward was the game winner with Beth scoring 8-02 in the second half, she literally won every ball that went beyond the 20m line. Hannah Wilson and Erin Lively along with Isabella O'Hare came into their own in the forward line also adding to the scoreline. Lauren kane, Ally Magee and Orlaith McCusker controlled midfield with the back line of Roisin McPolin, Lily McAllister, Tiernagh Savage and Caitlin Harper strong in defence with Katie Murnin pulling off some great saves in goals. Erin McAlinden was introduced into defence after Lily McAllister was injured and played a strong game in a position she is not accustomed to. Congratulations to a terrific second half performance, the less said about the first half the better, and a word of thanks to referee Alastair McGilligan h Wilson tried to hold the ball up the Ballyholland defence were physically much stronger in the tackle and Ballyholland led at the break - 4-05 to 0-04!!

SENIOR CAMOGIE

The seniors travelled to Leitrim on Wednesday evening for the second round of league games and as always this was a tight game right from the start. Clobduff were without Paula and Karen for the match which meant some positional changes, Beth Fitzpatrick started in the corner forward position and Katie McGilligan in the half forward line and both girls played well and were not deterred at all in fact Beth did so well she had a number of different markers, the match was nip and tuck all through the first half and midway through the first half they suffered a blow when Fionnuala had to be taken off after sustaining a very nasty injury. In the second half Leitrim got a goal to put them 2 points up, however the girls dug very deep and turned the game around completely and came away with a convincing win final score Leitrim 2-06 Clonduff 2-13 Scorers Beth Fitzpatrick and Katie McGilligan 1-01 each, Sara Louise Carr 0-04, Orla Gribben 0-03, Megan O’Reilly 0-02, Roisin Mulholland and Cassie Fitzpatrick 0-01 each. Best wishes to Fionnuala and we hope to see you back very soon.
